Plant-for-the-Planet

On the Yucatán Peninsula and the state of Mexico, we are planting trees to fight the climate crisis. Planting trees generates jobs, is good for biodiversity, and captures the greenhouse gas CO2. Trees buy us valuable time, which we need to use to reduce our CO2 emissions. Our work takes place within 20,000 hectares, an area larger than the country of Liechtenstein.

Goals of the project

After mainly planting eight species in phase one of the project, we will plant over 20 species this year, to get closer to restoring the original level of tree biodiversity that existed in these forests. This includes many early successional species for our restoration in formerly pasture sites and dense wood species in our enrichment planting work.
